Kutaisi office opened on 7 February 2012. Since the opening day some 3900 meetings were
held at the center with some 137000 participants representing non-governmental
organizations, state authorities, media and business companies as well as political parties and
By the initiative of the Kutaisi center 250 public discussion panels were held focusing on the
most important issues on local as well as national levels. The meetings focus on issues relating
to gender policy, IDPs, social, healthcare, infrastructure and youth. At meetings held by the
initiative of the center local citizens have the possibility to meet and share their opinions with
the representatives of local and central government, members of parliament and all authorities
that are directly involved in solving important issues on both local and national levels. Meetings
and discussions held at the center address the most relevant local issues and concerns, as well
well policy papers and legislative and judiciary issues.
At various points in time discussions held at the center were attended by representative of
diplomatic missions of a number of foreign states. Among them were diplomats from the USA
and the United Kingdom as well as Georgian politicians including the president of Georgia and
leaders of various Georgian political parties.
A Women’s club by the Kutaisi Center for Civic Engagement which participates in the meetings
is studying women related issues in the region and tries to find ways to solve them.
Since 2012 the Kutaisi center has been hosting the election media-center which in its turn hold
events aiming at disseminating information to the general public regarding the election
campaigns of the candidates, formation of the voter lists, voting procedures and other
important issues concerning the elections. The Center provides a safe and secure space for
debates and briefings. Since the opening of the center in total 195 meetings were held among
which 58 were organized by the center.
Among the projects carried out by the center is the 11 month-long project of the UNESCO on
the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
