The winners of the competition "Write a Letter to a Gender-based Violence Victim" organized by the Network of Centers for Civic Engagement (NCCE) are now announced.
School students were asked to write a letter to a victim of Gender-based violence and show the empathy and support along with their advice.
NCCE has received many interesting letters, therefore it was quit hard to elect the winners. After lots of discussions, jury announced the winners:
I Place: Gela Shatirishvili, Batumi, N6 Physics-mathmetics Public School, 8th grade
II Place: Naz Akhmedova, Marneuli, Village Zemo Sarali Public School, 12th grade
III Place: Ana-Maria Shekiladze, Rustavi, #4 Public School, 10th Grade
Jury Favorite: Lizi Gadradni, Mestia, Chuberi, 9th grade
Those winners will be awarded cash prizes by NCCE.
Apart from announcing winners, jury also selected 5 more students who submitted outstanding letters. They will receive books from NCCE:
Giorgi Atanelishvili, Rustavi;
Nini Turadze, Batumi;
Fidan Galandarova, Marneuli, Zemo Sarali;
Ana Nizharadze, Mestia, Khaishi;
Diana Mikeladze, Ozurgeti, Nasakirali.
Jury consisted of 4 people: Writer Salome Benidze, Human Rights Defender Tamar Gurchiani, Psychologist Maya Tsiramua and the representatives of Ministry of Internal Affairs Goga Khatiashvili.
In total, NCCE received 120 letters from different regions of Georgia. We thank each and every student who participated in the competition. We will announce other different competitions in the future and we encourage them to compete again.
A competition was concluded with the financial support from USAID EWMI/ACCESS Project and aimed to raise awareness on gender-based violence among youth and to build civil support for the victims.
